Granite rock spires rise to the sky in this steep walled canyon. The North Fork of the South Platte travels slowly east toward the growing needs of Colorado’s largest city, Denver. Denver’s current population, 554,636, continues to grow, as does our undying thirst for clear mountain water. Once thought to be continually flowing, the water within the watershed has been reduced from drought and use. It will be important that we manage this water for future generations.
